August Friedrich Siegert was a German painter.
Beginning his career with historical paintings, he soon moved on to genre painting, which brought him fame. Many of his genre paintings, full of life, wit and fun, appealing as much for their content as for their craftsmanship, became very popular thanks to their published reproductions in engravings and photographs.
